“Native Creatives” Art exhibit to open at the Historic Gato Building June 16th

The Art Guild of the Purple Isles, a collective of Upper Keys artists, created an exhibit which showcases their colorful and talented work. This exhibit, called “Native Creatives” will be featured during an opening reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 on display in the Gato Building, 1100 Simonton Street. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through the summer season. Admission to the show and the reception is free.

The Art Guild of the Purple Isles (AGPI) is a 501(c)7 organization dedicated to the promotion and fostering of art and art education in the Upper Keys.  The guild has over 100 artist members and are actively involved with the Upper Keys community.  AGPI offers yearly art shows open to the public at different venues in the Upper Keys.

The exhibit is part of the Arts Council’s Art in Public Buildings program, designed to offer an opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work beyond a traditional gallery space and enhance the environment of those who work and visit the Gato Building. Please stop by to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. Free parking is available.

This exhibit was sponsored in part by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, the State of Florida: Division of Cultural Affairs, as well as other supporters. Additional support comes from donations by show visitors. For more information, please call the Arts Council at 305-295-4369 or email info@keysarts.com
