About the FKCFA
Your Local Arts Agency for Monroe County
Our History
The Florida Keys Council of the Arts was established to serve as the officially designated Local Arts Agency for Monroe County. Since its founding, the FKCFA has been at the forefront of arts advocacy in the Florida Keys, working tirelessly to ensure that the arts remain a central pillar of our island community. From its early days as a grassroots initiative, the Council has grown into a vital cultural institution that touches every corner of the Keys.
Our Role
As the Local Arts Agency for Monroe County, the FKCFA plays a multifaceted role in the cultural life of the Florida Keys. We administer arts grants funded by Monroe County tourist development taxes, oversee the county's public art program, maintain the Florida Keys Art Registry, and serve as the primary advocate for arts funding and policy at the local, state, and national levels. Our work ensures that both residents and the millions of visitors who travel to the Keys each year can experience a thriving arts scene.
What We Do
The FKCFA provides critical funding to artists, arts organizations, and cultural projects throughout Monroe County. We support everything from gallery exhibitions and theater productions to public murals, music festivals, and arts education programs in local schools. Through strategic partnerships with government agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, we amplify the impact of every dollar invested in the arts.
