Your Arts Council by (not just) Any Other Name

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts wants you to know that even though we have a new name and a new logo, we're the same arts council you've come to know and love.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts connects all the Florida Keys artists and arts organizations with one another, with local audiences, and with tourists. The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is the official Local Arts Agency and the major source of information regarding the arts in the Florida Keys and Key West. With our new name come new ideas, a new energy, and a renewed commitment to bring people together through supporting, promoting, and developing the arts in the Florida Keys.

Incorporated by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners in 1997, the Monroe Council of the Arts changed its name this past July 1. We made the change simply because people around the world know and love the Florida Keys. (Far fewer people know that the Keys make up most of Monroe County.)

The name change has led some county residents to wonder whether another arts council has appeared on the scene. We're glad to assure you that we're the same folks who brought you such fun ideas as Dolphins on Parade, the 150-mile public art exhibit that raised over $125,000 for Monroe County artists, and whose commitment to local creativity produced such excellent funding opportunities as ArtReach and Artists in Schools. Our popular slogan remains All the Arts, All the Keys, All the Time!

The fall issue of our essential Who What When & Where calendar brochure hit the streets on October 1. And we're proud to be the new publisher of the colorful Florida Keys and Key West Art Gallery Association Guide. Pick up a copy just about anywhere, or give us a call.

With the Florida Keys Council of the Arts's new name and renewed commitment, the time is right for you to renew your membership or to become a member. The benefits of membership include discounts, invitations, published recognition, links on our web site, and more.

Come join your neighbors and friends in participating in and celebrating, not only the Florida Keys Council of the Arts's new name, but all the new and interesting arts endeavors throughout the Keys. For every day brings more to love about the arts in the Keys.
