$15,000 Fellowship Workshop Reminder;
State Grants Available for Artists

  The Florida Keys Council of the Arts reminds Keys artists that Rem Cabrera, chief of cultural development for the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, will discuss the annual $15,000 South Florida Cultural Consortium (SFCC) Visual and Media Artists Fellowship in a free workshop Saturday, August 18, 3 p.m., at the Key West Library, 700 Fleming Street.  Reservations are requested but not required.  Applications are available at the Arts Council and at all Monroe County libraries.  The application deadline is October 1.

  The State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs offers $5,000 fellowships for individual artists in all disciplines.  The deadline for the 2002-03 cycle is January 14, 2002.  To apply, call 850-487-2980 or visit www.dos.state.fl.us/dca.

Two Monroe County applicants for Florida Individual Artist Fellowships won honorable mentions in the 2001-02 cycle: writer E. J. Miller-Laino and photographer Kimberly Narenkivicius.
