Andrea Comstock, Florida Keys Council of the Arts’ Business Manager, met with Keynote Speaker and best selling business author Malcolm Gladwell at the Americans for the Arts’ annual convention.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading organization for advancing the arts, hosted 800 arts leaders in Austin, Texas, from June 11-13.

FKCA President and Executive Director Monica Haskell attended the conference with Ms. Comstock and said, “We returned with great new resources for using the arts to build creativity and community in the Keys. The national arts action agenda aligns with our own. Plus had a great time experiencing the creative culture of Austin. Texas two-step, anyone? ”

Gladwell’s New York Times #1 best seller, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, analyzes how we can improve our instincts for good decision-making. His first best selling book, The Tipping Point, analyzes the development of trends.

Other conference presenters included Peggy Conlon, President and CEO of The Advertising Council, and Edward L. Bailey, vice-president of brand development for Austin City Limits.
