Allison Newsome is a talented public sculptor/innovator working in sculpture, stainless steel, brushed and powder coat aluminum, bronze and architectural terracotta faience. the RainKeep, rain harvesting sculpture, can be found all over the country. In 2021, Allison collaborated with Miami-based re-a.d Architecture and Design creating RainKeep 'SoHo' in SoHo, NYC, and 'Botanica' in Largo, Florida. Each RainKeep has its own name, derived from the story of its purpose, the science behind its meaning, or the materials used. Placed in public spaces such as Pocket Parks, Community Gardens, and town squares. These standalone sculptures are a bright beacon that creates a space for the public to gather. The sculptures feature large horizontal petals/ wings that are contrasted by vertical columns of kinetic handcrafted rain- chains that all work in unison to direct rain into above-ground beautifully designed volumetric vessel shapes.
