Beyond the Arts Council's own grant programs, there are many state, federal, and private funding sources available to support artists and arts organizations. We have compiled the following resources to help you find additional opportunities, develop your skills, and connect with the broader arts community.
State & Federal Funding
Florida Division of Arts and Culture
The state agency responsible for advancing and funding arts and culture in Florida. Administers grants for organizations, individual artists, and cultural facilities throughout the state.
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
The federal agency that funds and promotes artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation. Offers grants to organizations and fellowships for individual writers and translators.
NEA Grants for Arts Projects
Direct project grants from the NEA supporting artistically excellent projects in all disciplines. Applications are accepted twice yearly with awards ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.
Our Town, Creative Placemaking Grants
NEA program supporting creative placemaking projects that integrate arts and culture into community revitalization. Awards range from $25,000 to $150,000.
South Arts
The regional arts organization serving the southeastern United States. Offers grants for touring, presenting, and commissioning new work, plus fellowships for individual artists.
Professional Development
Florida Cultural Alliance
Statewide advocacy organization offering professional development workshops, webinars, and the annual Florida Cultural Summit for arts leaders and administrators.
Americans for the Arts Annual Convention
The largest annual gathering of arts professionals in the country. Sessions cover fundraising, board governance, program design, equity, and public policy.
Candid (Foundation Directory Online)
Comprehensive database of foundation and corporate grants. Free access available at many public libraries. An essential tool for researching private funding opportunities.
NYFA Source
A free, national searchable directory of awards, grants, and fellowships for individual artists maintained by the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Technical Assistance
National Council of Nonprofits
Resources on nonprofit governance, financial management, compliance, and best practices. Includes state-specific information for Florida nonprofits.
Florida Nonprofit Alliance
Statewide membership organization offering training, resources, and advocacy for Florida's nonprofit sector. Offers workshops on grant writing, board development, and strategic planning.
SCORE, Free Business Mentoring
Free mentoring and workshops for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. Local SCORE chapters in South Florida provide one-on-one guidance on business planning and finances.
TechSoup
Discounted and donated technology products and services for nonprofits. Access software, hardware, cloud services, and training at reduced cost for qualified organizations.
Arts Advocacy
Americans for the Arts
The nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts. Provides research, advocacy tools, and the annual Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.
Florida Cultural Alliance, Advocacy
Track state legislation affecting the arts, participate in Arts Day at the Capitol, and connect with elected officials to advocate for arts funding in Florida.
Arts Action Fund
The advocacy arm of Americans for the Arts. Take action on federal arts policy issues, contact your representatives, and stay informed about legislation affecting the arts.
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies
Research and policy organization representing the state arts agencies of all 50 states. Publishes data on state arts funding, policy briefs, and best practice guides.
Createquity
An arts policy research publication exploring how evidence and analysis can improve decision-making in the arts. A valuable resource for understanding arts ecosystem trends.
